Georgian Railway is changing the fares for Tbilisi-Batumi passenger train tickets.
According to the Georgian Railways, the tariff increases caused an increase in prices for electricity, train maintenance, materials and other costs.
"For many years, Georgian Railway JSC has not changed tariffs, and the company used its own funds to subsidize passenger transportation. It should be noted that tariffs for travel in alternative transport are systematically increased.
Despite partial fare increases, rail fares are still cheaper than alternative modes of transport.
From July 25, the fare for the 2-story train Tbilisi-Batumi-Tbilisi is:
✔️ Second class - 34 GEL
✔️ First class - 74 GEL
✔️ Business class - 124 GEL
We inform you that the fare for passenger trains on the Tbilisi-Poti, Tbilisi-Zugdidi, Tbilisi-Ozurgeti and Tbilisi-Kutaisi directions has remained unchanged.
All benefits for mainline electric trains for students, war veterans and railways remain in force. There is also a children's rate (50%) - for children under 10 years old. One child under the age of 5 travels free of charge with a passenger, if he does not occupy a separate seat," the Georgian Railway said in a statement.
