3 people were arrested for gang extortion and violence in Georgia

As a result of joint operational-search activities and investigative actions, officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Main Directorate of Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Department of Kakheti detained 3 people in Tbilisi and Kakheti. K.K., born in 1976, repeatedly convicted in the past, is accused of group extortion, and persons convicted of various crimes in the past - G.B., born in 1987. I T.G., born in 1975 arrested on charges of gang extortion and violence.The investigation established that the defendants demanded from citizen E.B. 4000 lari, threatening with violence. G.B. and T.G. threatened the victim with death and bodily harm if the amount was not paid within a certain period of time.

To avoid further violence, E.B. gave the extortionists the amount they demanded.Law enforcement officers detained all three as a result of operational-search activities carried out simultaneously in Tbilisi and Kakheti. During a search of the car driven by the GB, the police seized an assault rifle, a pistol and 18 rounds of ammunition as material evidence. “During a personal search at K.Kh. and T.G. narcotic drugs were seized, ”the information released by the department says.According to the agency, the investigation is underway under article 181, part 2, subparagraph "A" of the Criminal Code of Georgia and article 126, part 1, subparagraph "B" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for group extortion and violence.

Crimes are punishable by 4 to 7 years in prison.
