4 people were detained for selling expired meat products and confectionery products from a landfill. This was reported by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The detainees are employees of one of the landfills in Kvemo Kartli.
“According to the investigation, the detainees systematically sold from the landfill in Kvemo Kartli unusable and expired meat products and confectionery products intended for destruction, produced by various Georgian and foreign companies and withdrawn from the network trade.
As a result of the investigative actions carried out in the case, 1105 kg of expired meat products sold to the accused from the landfill and 1,115 kg of expired confectionery were seized from the house of one of the private individuals.
According to the conclusion of the examination, these products pose a danger to human life and health.
The case is being investigated in accordance with the first part of Article 198, Article 220 and the fourth part of Article 221 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 4 to 6 years, ”the Investigative Service said in a statement.
