Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Main Directorate of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as a result of active investigative and operational measures carried out jointly with the General Prosecutor's Office, detained 5 people in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zestafoni and Terjola. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on charges of membership in the "Thieves world" and an appeal to the members of the "Thieves world" were detained: I.M. Born in 1982, G.G. Born in 1975 (Nicknamed "Gadabmuli") K.Z., born in 1978, Sh.K., born in 1984 And G.S., born in 1966;

“According to the investigation, because of the financial dispute, the parties turned to the members of the „thieves world“ with a request to resolve the existing dispute: I.M., G.G. and K.Zh.J., in turn, contacted Georgian thieves in law abroad.

After that, the members of the "thieves 'world" together with the parties to the dispute held several meetings to settle a financial dispute under the "thieves' laws" in a previously rented apartment in Tbilisi, as well as in the office of one of the parties to the dispute. At the meetings, representatives of the "thieves' world" listened to both sides and instructed them to pay each other certain shares of the disputed GEL 50,000, and also demanded that both sides send money to the "thieves in the law" involved in resolving the disputed situation.

“The parties could not agree on their shares, after which the representatives of the „thieves world“ forced them to come to Greece and meet with the thieves in law, who had already made a final decision on the „thieves laws“, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

According to the department, on the fact of membership in the "Thieves world" and an appeal to the members of the "Thieves world", an investigation is underway under Part 1 of Art. 223 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and part 2 of Art. 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

For this offense, the maximum penalty is imprisonment for a term of 7 to 10 years.
