“They threatened to kill him and take away paragliders” - the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained three people who extorted money from a foreign citizen

As a result of operational-search activities and investigative actions, employees of the Operational-Investigation Department of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained three persons on charges of group extortion: G.I., born in 1989, previously convicted: G.B., 1998. R. I N., born in 2001;
The investigation established that the defendants extorted money from E.M., born in 1988, in favor of a foreign citizen in order to obtain material benefits. E.M. was engaged in commercial activities in the Khelvachauri municipality, renting paragliders, and the defendants used violence and threatened to kill him and take away the paraglider if he did not share the income. The police detained all three in Adjara as a result of a special operation based on a judge's order. The investigation is underway on the fact of group extortion under article 181, part 2, subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The maximum punishment for the crime is from 4 to 7 years in prison.
