Traffic has been restored on the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi highway. This is reported by the Department of Roads of Georgia.

The restoration of traffic on the road connecting Russia and Georgia became possible as a result of intensive restoration work carried out at the 136th kilometer. The road in this section was damaged by the Terek River, which overflowed its banks.

Currently, traffic is carried out on a temporary road. At the same time, major repairs are underway on the main road. The damaged section of the road is located in the neutral zone, between the Kazbegi and Upper Larsi checkpoints.

More than 260 trucks have accumulated due to the road closure in Kazbegi alone. Landslides and rockfalls due to bad weather were also observed on other sections of the road.
