Last night, the Russian invaders blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which is located upstream from Kherson along the Dnieper.

"The Russian occupying forces blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Now the scale of destruction, the speed and volume of water, the likely areas of flooding are being specified. All services are working. The situation is being monitored," the Yug operational command said in a statement.

Judging by the footage that has already appeared on the network, the dam has received critical damage and is no longer able to hold back the flow of water. As you can clearly see in the video, an uncontrolled discharge of water from the Kakhovka reservoir began, which is fraught with serious flooding downstream of the Dnieper.

Kherson Regional State Administration Chairman Alexander Prokudin has already announced the evacuation of residents of the right bank of the Dnieper, who are at risk of flooding.

As UNIAN reported, the Russian Federation constantly intimidated Ukrainians with a possible breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir, flooding of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, creating a nuclear danger, and the like. In particular, representatives of the occupation authorities claimed that a dam near the town of Kamenka Dneprovskaya was likely to break and flood tens of thousands of residents.

The Kakhovka reservoir - 5 km from the city of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region, which is now occupied, is the last step in the cascade of the Dnieper hydroelectric power stations. The facility regulates the flow of the Dnieper to provide a certain part of southern Ukraine with electricity and water.
