The European Union will allocate an expert mission to delimit the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This is stated in the statement of the President of the European Council Charles Michel after the meeting with Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan.

Charles Michel called on Baku and Yerevan to work in good faith and contribute to de-escalation.

“The EU is providing an expert mission / advisory group to provide technical assistance to both sides in border delimitation,” the statement said.

The document says that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan, agreed that in the context of negotiations on delimitation and demarcation, the following steps should be taken to help de-escalate tensions on the ground and facilitate negotiations.

"President Michel called on Baku and Yerevan to separate the armed forces from each other in the de-escalation process so that incidents do not recur in the future," Charles Michel said in a statement.

As azerbaycan24.com reports, at the meeting they discussed restoration of transport communication. In particular, through the so-called Zangezur corridor, which will connect Azerbaijan with the Nakhichevan autonomy, and then with Turkey. According to this source, Armenia gives its consent to the construction of a railway, and in the near future Armenia will start building a railway on its territory. The parties agreed on customs and border control.

As Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote on the official website, an agreement was reached on the restoration of the railway. “The railway will operate on a mutually beneficial basis, within the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries through which it will pass, in accordance with international customs and border rules. “Armenia will have communication with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation by rail. We agreed to continue contacts, " - Pashinyan wrote.
