With the financial support of the National Wine Agency and the organization of the international marketing company Meiburg Wine Media, a wine tour took place in Georgia. This was reported by the National Wine Agency.
The 10-member group included wine professionals and representatives of the commercial sector from Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong. As part of the tour, the guests were introduced to Georgian winemaking traditions and modern technologies in Kakheti and Kartli, and they tasted various types of Georgian wines produced both in qvevri and by the classical method.
“This is my first visit to Georgia. Here I saw how closely culture, wine, food, and people are interconnected. For a sommelier, who stands at the table and talks to customers, it is very important to be able to tell the story. This is especially impressive for me. The wines are delicious, and I received answers to many questions about winemaking, qvevri, different grape varieties, and micro-zones. For me, being here is a true honor,” noted Leanne Altmann, an Australian participant of the group, sommelier, and Director of Beverages at the restaurant group Trader House.
For the tour participants, a Georgian wine tasting was also held in Tbilisi, where wines from 16 producers were presented.
One of the main directions of the National Wine Agency’s activities is the promotion of Georgian wine and raising its awareness in international markets.
As part of supporting the promotion of Georgian wine, the agency carries out targeted advertising and marketing campaigns in the markets of the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia with the aim of diversifying markets.
