Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained two individuals — previously convicted G.J., born in 1977, and Ukrainian citizen D.Z., born in 1997 — on charges of illegal purchase and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs, assisting in their distribution, as well as illegal acquisition and possession of firearms, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
“During searches of the suspects’ personal belongings, vehicle, and residences, law enforcement officers seized various types of narcotic substances as evidence, including methadone, heroin, and dried marijuana.
As a result of investigative actions, the police also seized firearms and materials necessary for packaging narcotic drugs.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 260, Part 1; Article 260, Part 3; Article 260¹, Part 6; and Article 236, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. These crimes are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment,” the statement said.
