Mtskheta-Mtianeti police detained one person on charges of extortion

Employees of the Dusheti District Division of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as a result of operational and investigative activities, detained G.F., born in 1988, previously convicted and currently on probation, on charges of extortion.
According to the agency, the crime is punishable by imprisonment from 2 to 4 years.
“The investigation established that the accused G.F. contacted L.G., born in 1971, by mobile phone and demanded a certain amount of money. In case of refusal to hand over the requested sum, he threatened to kill him.
The police detained G.F. as the accused.
The investigation is being conducted under Part 1 of Article 181 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the statement said.
