Police detained one person on charges of producing and distributing forged documents

Employees of the Main Investigation Department of the Tbilisi Police and the Main Detective (Operative) Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained G. O., born in 1999, on charges of producing and distributing forged documents, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports.

According to the agency, the crime is punishable by up to 3 years of imprisonment.

“The investigation established that the accused worked in Tbilisi at one of the office service facilities, where, using appropriate equipment, he forged various types of documents, including the service ID of an employee of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a vehicle pass for Tbilisi City Hall.

As part of the investigative actions, law enforcement officers purchased forged documentation from G. O. for a certain amount of money.

Law enforcement officers detained the accused in Tbilisi. During a search of his workplace and residence, personal computers and special equipment used to produce forged documents were seized as evidence. A forged driver’s license and materials necessary for its production were also confiscated.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 362 of the Criminal Code, which provides for the production and distribution of forged documents,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated.
