Employees of the police departments of Tbilisi, Kakheti, Guria, Imereti, and Mtskheta-Mtianeti of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out at different times, arrested 7 people on charges of drug-related crimes. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“On charges of illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances in especially large quantities, as well as illegal planting, cultivation, and growing of plants containing narcotic substances in especially large quantities, the following individuals were arrested: L.F., born in 2000, G.G., born in 1975, as well as previously convicted persons — G.J., born in 1979, J.G., born in 1979, Z.B., born in 1969, G.K., born in 1959, and G.Kh., born in 1999.
As a result of searches of the suspects’ residential houses, auxiliary premises, and household plots, as well as from a specially equipped greenhouse for cultivating plants containing narcotic substances, the police seized as material evidence 209 cannabis plants, marijuana, and buprenorphine. The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 265 prima of the Criminal Code,” the statement of the ministry reads.
For reference: the crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
