In Georgia, local self-government elections started at 8:00 a.m. local time.
Across the country, 3,061 polling stations have been opened. At 2,284 of them, voting is being conducted electronically, while at 777 polling stations it follows the traditional system.
The total number of registered voters is 3,513,818.
The elections are being held in 64 municipalities, including five self-governing cities — Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Poti, and Rustavi. In total, 2,058 members of local councils (sakrebulo) will be elected.
