An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 struck Kamchatka. Tremors were felt by residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vilyuchinsk, as well as the Yelizovsky and Ust-Kamchatsky districts. A tsunami warning was issued for Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands. No evacuation was carried out.
According to updated data, the earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean, 93 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The epicenter was located at a depth of 123 kilometers.
Furniture shook in homes, dishes fell, and chandeliers swayed. People left their apartments and waited outside until the tremors subsided.
It should be recalled that on July 30, 2025, an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Kamchatka. It turned out to be the strongest in 73 years. A kindergarten in the regional capital was damaged, though no one was inside. A natural landmark was also destroyed. In addition, residents of the Kuril Islands felt the tremors: four tsunami waves reached Severo-Kurilsk, damaging infrastructure. People evacuated to higher ground.
