As a result of a powerful earthquake in Afghanistan, more than 600 people were killed and 1,500 injured, Sky News reports.

The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.0. Several Afghan villages were completely destroyed. The tremors occurred in northeastern Afghanistan, in Kunar Province, located on the border with Pakistan. The earthquake was also felt in the city of Jalalabad, situated 17 miles from the epicenter, in Nangarhar Province.
