U.S. President Donald Trump is ready to lift the restriction that prevents the Armed Forces of Ukraine from striking Russian territory with long-range American-made weapons. According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, he told this to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23.

At the meeting, Zelensky asked Trump to provide more long-range missiles and to authorize their use for strikes on targets inside Russia. In response, Trump said he was not opposed to the idea, but he did not make any commitments, U.S. and Ukrainian officials told the newspaper.

According to The Telegraph and Axios, Zelensky requested Tomahawk cruise missiles, which have a range of more than 2,400 kilometers.

The Wall Street Journal writes that, according to its sources, the Trump administration is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with Tomahawks and other long-range weapons. The paper’s interlocutors said that next week Ukrainian officials will travel to Washington to hold talks with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
