The widow of popular far-right activist and blogger Charlie Kirk has vowed to continue her husband’s political activities after he was killed during a speech in Utah. “The movement my husband created will not die. It will not die. I will not allow that to happen,” said Erika Kirk in an online video message.

According to her, Kirk’s death was an irreparable loss for his family — he was “the perfect father and the perfect husband.” “Those responsible for my husband’s murder do not understand what they have done,” Erika Kirk added. “They have no idea what fire they have ignited in this woman. The cry of this widow will spread across the world like a battle cry.”

Just a few hours earlier, news broke of the arrest of a suspect in Kirk’s murder. “I think we’ve got him,” U.S. President Donald Trump said live on Fox News. He expressed hope that the suspect “will be found guilty and sentenced to death.” He did not disclose the suspect’s identity. According to media reports, the suspect is 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

Charlie Kirk was shot on September 10 during his speech at Utah Valley University. He was wounded in the neck and hospitalized. A few hours after the attack, Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death. Police and the FBI detained two suspects in the murder but eventually released both.

The slain 31-year-old Charlie Kirk was a conservative activist and podcast host. He had millions of followers on social media. According to U.S. media, he was seen as someone who deeply understood the sentiments of the young conservative movement and Trump supporters of “Make America Great Again.” In 2012, he founded the influential organization Turning Point USA, which promoted conservative values in educational institutions. Kirk had a direct line to Trump, with whom he exchanged views, CNN reports.
