Law enforcement officers confiscated a large quantity of illegal firearms and ammunition during operational activities and investigative actions conducted over two days in Tbilisi and regions throughout Georgia. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, based on a court order, several individuals were detained, some of whom had previous convictions.
“During searches of the detainees, their residences, auxiliary premises, and vehicles, police seized various types of firearms, ammunition, magazines, cartridges, and bulletproof vests as evidence.
The crimes carry penalties of imprisonment for up to 7 years. The investigation is being conducted under parts three and four of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
All relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue a round-the-clock uncompromising fight against crime and the implementation of preventive measures across the country to ensure maximum security,” the information released by the Ministry states.
