Officers of the Shida Kartli Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of prompt operational and investigative actions, detained six individuals in connection with a stabbing incident in Gori. The information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the ministry, on charges of intentional infliction of severe bodily harm and illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm, police detained citizen D.G., born in 1988. On charges of group violence against two or more persons, the following individuals were detained: I.M., born in 1981; L.M., born in 1989; D.Ts., born in 1992; B.T., born in 1992; and G.Sh., born in 1991.

The crime carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

“The investigation determined that on August 8 of this year, in the city of Gori, the accused D.G., during a verbal dispute, physically assaulted L.N., born in 2003.

In an attempt to resolve the conflict, the opposing sides, accompanied by others, met again later. During the renewed confrontation, the suspects committed group violence against L.N. and his companions. During the incident, D.G. fired several shots from a firearm, injuring L.N.’s brother, D.N., and his friend, E.N., in the lower limbs. Both victims were hospitalized to receive appropriate medical care. After the incident, the suspects fled the scene.

As a result of the operational and investigative measures taken, police detained the suspects within a few hours of the incident.

During a search of D.G.’s basement, police seized, as material evidence, the weapon used in the crime — a ‘Molot Arms’ model firearm.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing under Articles 117, 236, and 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” the official statement said.
