The General Inspection of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Detained Three Individuals on Drug Charges

Officers of the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have detained three individuals on charges of illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances, following a series of operational and investigative actions. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, the crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term ranging from 10 to 15 years.

"The investigation established that D.K., born in 1982, an inspector with the escort and cash-in-transit unit of the Tbilisi division of the Security Police Department, illegally acquired a narcotic substance from B.J., born in 1981. The latter had received the substance illegally and without material gain from another individual, D.K., born in 1966.

During a personal search of police officer D.K., the narcotic substance buprenorphine was seized, which the accused was unlawfully storing. In addition, searches of the detainees' residences led to the seizure of the narcotic substance marijuana and one live round intended for a revolver of the “Nagant” system, which the accused were also unlawfully storing.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 260 (Part 2) and Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia for illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances, illegal transfer of narcotics without material gain, and illegal acquisition and possession of ammunition,” the Ministry’s statement reads.
