Officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained two previously convicted individuals — L.A., born in 1972, and G.Ch., born in 1972 — on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and import of narcotic drugs into Georgia. This information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

"The defendants arrived in Georgia from one of the European countries via Tbilisi Airport. Law enforcement officers seized a narcotic substance from a small bag in the possession of L.A. at Tbilisi International Airport. As for G.Ch., 336 tablets of the narcotic drug Subutex were seized, which the accused had smuggled into Georgia inside his body.

The police detained both individuals as defendants. The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reads.
