Documents published on the website of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) reveal that the United National Movement (UNM) hired the American lobbying firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP. The contract with the lobbyists was signed on behalf of the party by Petre Tsiskarishvili.

According to the contract, dated July 11, the National Movement paid the lobbying firm $360,000, which covers six months of services. Notably, in the document, the party is referred to as Unity of National Movement, rather than its official name, United National Movement.

It is particularly worth noting that Nelson Mullins’ headquarters is located in Columbia, South Carolina.

For years, the lobbying firm has actively funded political campaigns of both Democratic and Republican candidates for Congress and the presidency through PACs (Political Action Committees). Among the recipients of these donations is Congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina, a well-known figure in Georgia. According to public records, Nelson Mullins has donated a total of $87,500 to Wilson’s campaigns over the past 20 years. For the 2024 congressional election alone, the company has already contributed $10,000. Another candidate supported by Nelson Mullins is Senator Lindsey Graham, also from South Carolina, whose 2024 campaign received $35,000 from the firm.

It is important to note that political donations are made not only in the name of the company itself but also by its employees, which raises reasonable suspicions: the funds paid by the National Movement to the lobbyists could be indirectly used to support Joe Wilson’s campaign. In return, the congressman is expected to continue his disinformation campaign about Georgia and to promote the Megobari Act.

The contract also states that the lobbying firm will act as the National Movement’s diplomatic representative to U.S. government agencies and will assist the party in promoting free and fair elections in Georgia. It is especially noteworthy that while the National Movement does not intend to participate in local elections, it is actively lobbying in the U.S. for “free and fair elections” in Georgia.
