The Tbilisi City Court found Giorgi Akhobadze not guilty and released him from custody. He had been arrested on charges of possession and acquisition of narcotic substances in large quantities.
The decision was made by Judge Romeo Tkheshelashvili.
Akhobadze was detained on December 7 while returning home after participating in a protest on Rustaveli Avenue.
He was charged with illegal acquisition and possession of narcotics in large quantities—a crime punishable by 8 to 20 years imprisonment or life imprisonment.
