Five employees of the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip.
Among the dead are journalists Mohammed Kreike and Anas al-Sharif, as well as cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliva, and their driver Mohammed Nufal.
The IDF stated that Anas al-Sharif was “a terrorist under the cover of journalism,” claiming that he was the head of a Hamas terrorist cell and organized rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and military personnel.
Al Jazeera called the Israeli strike “a blatant and deliberate attack on press freedom.”
